I work because I have to. Also because I love it. I get through each day - one day at a time. Sometimes, the day drags on and its more exhausting than having a super productive and busy day. Those super boring long days are terrible but to combined with the tragic hangover is a recipe for disaster. All in all, we work because it gives us something to do, some aim in life. Money to live on. People to bitch about. Keeps things in the air and lets us savour the moments when we are NOT in the office. Just think about what it was when we are looking for jobs. Always worried about the next day or rent/mortgage. Wondering when the call is going to come from the interview you did two weeks ago. Desparation is not a good thing. How in the world does one relax? We don't. Is there a middle ground? Why yes - we can win the lottery. The bad news is that I have a better chance of being struck by lightening on a sunny clear HK summer day. Cheers.

I read the article and thought it might be an opportunity for the two communities to talk to each other. I filmed a segment with Mr Floyd Mori of the Japanese American Citizens League. We posted 2 segments on YouTube and here are the links. Please view them and express you comments.

Hmm... I think the disposability of magazines is debatable. There is a lot of good writing that goes on in magazines, but also much that is crap. I think it really depends on which magazine you're reading. If the magazine is mainly about fashion, sports, music, or some other aspect of pop culture, then I agree that it's disposable - it has no shelf life. But if it's a magazine like Vanity Fair, Vogue, or Esquire (to name big ones), then it does contain good information and excellent writing.

You can always lug magazines around too.

But why am I arguing. I like books more. =)

As much as I love magazines, I can barely retain any serious information from reading them. And I feel they are disposable. Books - if well-written - I can always remember even the most minute detail and I will keep and lug around with me, wherever I may move to.
